A card battle game by Drew Wright

Your cards.
Your rules.

A card battle game where you decide
what your cards do.

Rule Masters is a strategy card game where you use a Deck of Units, Items, Locations and Spells to Destroy your opponent's Ruler. The cards have no rules text. Instead, you make up their effects based on vibes, justification and negotiation.

When negotiations fail, you turn to the Arbiter to settle the dispute. The Arbiter is a neutral judge who also decides how fights turn out. You can use the Rule Masters Arbiter, an AI designed for the role, in ChatGPT on your phone.

Cards have no Rules Text!

When you play a card, you say what it does. If the effect suits the card and you pay a fair price, it works.

Your opponent can agree, haggle over the price, or raise an Objection. Objections go to the Arbiter.

Effects

How to make an effect

1

Propose an effect

Choose a card and say what it does. Explain how you're using it and what you're paying.

2

Agree on the cost

Your opponent can accept your proposal or ask for a different cost.

3

Ask the Arbiter

If your opponent Objects, the Arbiter rules on your proposal.

The Golden Rule

Every effect costs something.

The more you ask a card to do, the more you need to pay. Agree on a fair price with your opponent before the effect happens.
